Static stretching may not be ideal for athletic flexibility, performance and injury prevention.
Natural Flexibility or Stretching? In a New York Times article titled, “To Stretch or Not to Stretch?“, July 18, 2018:
“…static stretching has fallen out of favor in recent years, after studies showed that prolonged static stretching might cause reactions in the nervous system that temporarily weaken the stretched muscle.”

Instead, the article reports that the American College of Sports Medicine, as well as other organizations and coaches, advise against stretching. However, studies cited in the article were short-term and did not address dynamic flexibility, or Natural Flexibility Training, a new form of isometric flexibility training pioneered by Dr. Charles Kenny.
Ideal Flexibility advocates and teaches Natural Flexibility, a new alternative to traditional stretching. Natural Flexibility combines principles of Pilates, Martial Arts, Dance, and Gymnastics into an exercise routine that allows your body to strengthen and increase flexibility, providing enhanced injury prevention, range of motion and balance.
Natural Flexibility Training strengthens your entire range of motion while simultaneously expanding that range of motion.
With progressive sequential isometric exercises, athletes and anyone looking for improved activity and an alternative warm-up regimen, that not only strengthens and reinforces bodies, can also prepare for physical activity.
Flexibility involves more than your muscles – It also includes your joints and tendons, and your body has a natural range of motion that it should have the strength and wherewithal to protect against excessive forces, like overextensions.
Coupled with Neural Reset Therapy and Massage Therapy, flexibility training is a tremendous tool for mitigating muscular soreness.
If you are an athlete or an active person, you owe it to yourself to try this new flexibility training and, even better, incorporate it into your life to enjoy its many benefits.
